So what is acne? Acne is an inflammatory condition where the pores are blocked by sebum and the dead surface cells. The gland that releases the sebum blocks and causes the build-up of bacteria under the skin.

What causes Acne?

  • Dry skin
  • A diet high in greasy/fatty foods and low in essential fatty acids
  • Being low in Vitamin A
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Stressful lifestyle
  • Using skincare that isn’t suitable for your skin where it may be causing it to be drier and so this will initiate the sebaceous glands to release more sebum which blocks the pores.
  • Not cleansing the skin twice daily. Our skin comes into contact with many pollutants in the day and if we don’t cleanse this from our face there is more chance of blocking pores.
